Michael J. Fox Theatre
Since 1993 Gary Morrey has been Chair on the Board of Directors for the Michael J. Fox Theatre. A community-styled theatre, named after Fox in 1995, that offers a venue for amateur and professional artists, enhancing Burnaby’s already rich culture. As one of the busiest theatre venues in the lower mainland it illustrates a focus on learning, opportunity and community and reflects an ongoing commitment to developing skilled, talented performers, and informed, inspired audiences and citizens.
Michael J. Fox Theatre Golf Tournament
Prided as one of the theatre’s biggest fundraising efforts, Gary Morrey has been organizing this annual golf tournament for a number of years. Raising more than $400,000 with all proceeds going towards theatre improvements and arts and entertainment scholarships for Burnaby students.

Special Olympics BC and The Hart to Heart Croquet Tournament
Through his Directorship for the Hart to Heart Croquet Tournament, Gary Morrey along with over 150 guests and volunteers helped to make the 2008 tournament a remarkable success. This year marked the 21st anniversary for the event, and was also marked by surpassing $1,000,000 in funds raised for Special Olympics BC.
Since 1980 Special Olympics BC has helped over 3,500 athletes from all over British Columbia participate in high-quality sporting programs and competitions for individuals with intellectual disabilities. In addition to the athletic and training benefits, the programs help athletes develop social skills, friendships and a stronger sense of self-esteem.
